In 2020, the South comprised 38% of the U.S. population but represented over half of new diagnoses. Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is dedicated to raising consciousness while calling attention to the barriers that fuel stigma and result in disproportionate effects in Southern communities. SHAAD is an opportunity for community leaders and organizations to educate and engage the public in the fight to end the epidemic.
